Marlene Dietrich Lamp

Item Description

Dark bronzed spelter "Odeon" style lamp from the USA, purportedly depicting the screen goddess of the era Marlene Dietrich.

She was at her artistic peak throughout the Art Deco age, starring in many films and revues before the Second World War and even beyond.

Here she is seen on stage, on a shaped and stepped base, wearing a glamorous evening gown and about to commence her evening performance - "Falling in love again, what am I to do ...."  - what a star !

This lamp was probably cast by the American foundry Nuart around the very early 1930's.

Still with its original honey coloured vaseline glass shade and recently rewired to meet current standards.  Complete with an in-line on/off switch.

The height is between 21 and 22 cm and the base measures 18.5 cm by a touch over 12 cm.
