Jessie King Brooch made by W.H. Haseler

Item Description

Silver and polychrome enamel brooch dating from the very ealy 1900's, designed by Jessie M. King and made by W.H. Haseler.

A wide, almost heart shaped outline with a gently concave surface, enamelled in shades of orangey-red, green and yellow wth the central design left as a contrasting silver detail.

Almost certainly made for Liberty of London, Haseler's being one of that store's main suppliers of silver and jewellery at the time.

Marked 'silver' and also with the WHH maker's mark. The width is 3.5 cm.

N.B.  See also our item nos. 12830 and 14040 for two very similar brooches, the first made by Murrle Bennett, with the colours of the enamel reversed compared to this one, and the second, showing the Liberty mark and set with a central turquoise stone and a pearl drop.
