English Arts & Crafts necklace in 9 ct. gold set with alternate emerald beads and pearls.
These are concentrated in the centre, either side of an extended drop featuring an oval mother-of-pearl plaque set in a gold surround immediately below a fine gold upright set with further pearls.
The beads and pearls are more widely spaced along the length of the necklace chain, culminating with a bolt-ring fastener which is marked 9c.
Not the best emeralds in the world but this is part of the charm of much Arts & Crafts jewellery - the craftsmen and women followers of this movement were known for using and making the best of whatever gems they were able to obtain.
Circa 1920 and with a length of 46 cm.
