Arts & Crafts Silver, Opal and Moonstones Pendant

Item Description

Beautifully made Arts & Crafts silver pendant necklace in an openwork style, set with a very fine oval opal which some might call a water opal.

Crafted in the form of sprays of leaves and stems and with an open flower at the top. The wirework frame, which can be seen more clearly from the back, forms the stems of the leaves, ending in little whorls on the inside which partly surround the opal.

Further detail is seen in the small silver dots attached to the stems and a smaller, wirework open flower at the base.

Three set moonstone drops hang from the pendant which itself is connected by a series of short chains to an ornate central suspender, also set with a moonstone.

No marks but for sure a professional piece and somewhat in the manner of Birmingham School, possibly Thomas Blackband or early Bernard Cuzner.

Circa 1915-20 and measuring a little over 7.5 cm from the top of the suspender to the bottom of the central drop. The necklace chain is approximately 54 cm long.
