Art Nouveau / Arts & Crafts wooden box with applied repoussé decoration in a floral and foliate design, further embellished with opalescent glass cabochons.
The copper panels of stylised tropical looking plantlife have been carefully attached to the wood with a large number of tiny pins, and are wrapped around all the edges other than where the hinged lid meets the main body of the box, giving additonal strength and stability.
A total of ten cabochons resembling moonstones in appearance, form the centres of the flowers on all four sides and the top.
Made from a European hardwood, probably Sycamore, and In excellent condition commensurate with its age.
Complete with the original key and a good size at 21 cm wide, 16 deep and 11 high.
