Enamelled Vase of Flowers by Pierre Bonnet

Item Description

Framed Limoges enamel on copper picture of a glass vase full of old fashioned roses, peonies and forget-me-nots, after the original still-life painting by Albert Williams shown in our last photo.

A beautifully composed homage to the original and with very fine enamelling, as to be expected from Pierre Bonnet, a master of his craft.

Great detail to all aspects of the picture even extending to the little droplets of water clinging to a couple ofthe flowers.

Not easy to date accurately but probably from around 1950 or a little after.

There is a small very slightly damaged area in the top right corner which has a hairline crack to the enamel that is not immediately noticeable and in our opinion does not detract from the picture on display.

The convex copper plaque is mounted in an ornate gilt frame which measures approximately 58 X 48 cm.  The visible image is around 39 cm high by 29.5 wide.
