'Atalante' by De Marco

Item Description

Splendid Art Deco figure known as 'Atalante' cast in spelter at the Le Verrier foundry in Paris circa 1930.

Set on a shaped natural stone base, this sculpture was made in two or three different sizes and versions, sometimes with a leaping deer ahead of the figure of Diana.

This is the larger edition depicting the semi-naked huntress alone, running forward and aiming her bow with her stylised hair and short skirt flaring out behind her.

A strong Art Deco piece, beautifully posed and modelled, patinated in the dark olivey green colour so often favoured during this period.

Signed De Marco in the stone and with a total height of approximately 83 cm.
